Drew McIntyre re-signed a contract extension deal with WWE that was officially confirmed on April 27. The actual extension was no surprise, but the time it took to finalize a deal was shocking to some people. For a moment, there was a real concern among fans that “The Scottish Warrior” might not stick around and go for another destination like AEW. Ultimately, the re-signing got done and was made official by The Rock, who posted a video on Instagram of McIntyre getting the sword delivered in a restaurant.
McIntyre is happy after re-signing
Recently, in an interview, McIntyre talked about why he reigned and what is keeping him in WWE. Drew explained that it was about his happiness, his family and feeling right with his character in WWE.
The Scottish Warrior said, “Being happy, at this point of my life and career all that matters is that I’m happy and I can get with my family which I have not had for 20 years.”
He also talked about creativity and said that he can only control the controllable. Talent has been given too much leeway and great support for the last few years. It has been an amazing experience for McIntyre in the company and he has the opportunity to show what he can really do.
The Scottish Warrior desires to clash with CM Punk
Drew is aware that he won’t get everything he wants creatively, but he is comfortable that he can adapt. He is set for a confrontation with CM Punk. McIntyre has been preoccupied with “The Best in the World” since before WrestleMania 40 and his desire to go head-to-head with Punk has not diminished. He is actively waiting for the Chicago native to return from injury. McIntyre himself is not cleared to wrestle but hopes for a singles match when both are healthy. Most likely, the two superstars will clash at SummerSlam. It remains to be seen whether that match will include the World Title, which is currently held by Judgement Day’s Damian Priest.
