Dortmund vs Bayern Munich: Preview
Dortmund form analysis
Borussia Dortmund’s recent run of games has shown them to be an entertaining attacking side but with vulnerabilities at the back. They started with a narrow 1-0 home win over Wolfsburg thanks to a Reus goal. Dortmund then impressed offensively in a 1-3 away win at Hoffenheim with goals from Füllkrug, Reus and Ryerson. However, defensive issues emerged in a chaotic 4-2 home win against Union Berlin, twice surrendering leads before pulling away in the second half. They ground out another 1-0 home win over Werder Bremen courtesy of a Brandt strike to stay perfect at home.
Problems at the back persisted in an action packed 3-3 away draw with Frankfurt, clawing back a two goal deficit but conceding late. Overall, Dortmund carry a significant threat in attack through Füllkrug, Reus and Bellingham but are far too open defensively, keeping just 1 clean sheet. If they can strike the right balance, they have the quality to challenge Bayern for the title.
Bayern Munich form analysis
Bayern Munich’s recent run of games has showcased their status as the Bundesliga’s dominant force, annihilating teams for fun. They started in devastating fashion, hammering Bochum 7-0 at home with Kane bagging a hat-trick in a ruthless display. They were then involved in a six goal thriller away at Leipzig, twice surrendering the lead but showcasing their resilience by claiming a point.
Normal service quickly resumed with a comfortable 3-0 home win over Freiburg thanks to goals from Coman, Sané and Coman again. Bayern continued to terrorize opponents in a 1-3 away win at Mainz, with Kane and Coman on target before Goretzka sealed the points. Most recently, they tore Darmstadt to shreds in an 8-0 home thrashing, powered by a Kane double hat-trick. Overall, Bayern look completely unstoppable, scoring 21 goals in this run. With in-form stars like Kane, Sané and Musiala, it’s hard to see anyone stopping them from retaining their title this season.
