Ahead of the start of the Australian Open 2024, Novak Djokovic made his presence felt at a charity event at Melbourne Park on Thursday, 11th January 2024. He was involved in a friendly Tennis match with Australian star batter Steve Smith.
Djokovic was stunned to witness Steve Smith’s Tennis exploits on the court. In the video clip that has been making the rounds on social media, Djokovic could be seen producing a body serve to Smith but what amazed the fans and the Tennis star was how swiftly the Australian cricketer made the forehand return.

Meanwhile, Australian batter Steve Smith is part of Australia’s squad for the upcoming two-match home Test series against West Indies. Following the retirement of David Warner, Steve Smith looked adamant to open the innings for Australia in Test cricket.
Recently, during a BBL encounter, Marnus Labuschagne confirmed that Steve Smith will be opening the innings alongside Usman Khawaja, with the former taking the number three position.
It is worth mentioning that Steve Smith has batted in every position from number three to number nine in his Test cricket career as he started his career as a leg-spinner. However, the 34-year-old is yet to open the innings for the Australian Test team.
Recently, Cricket Australia also announced the squad for the Test series against West Indies. Matt Renshaw pipped the likes of Marcus Harris and Cameron Bancroft for a place in the squad but the selectors also confirmed Green’s place in the playing XI, which means that Renshaw is likely to warm the bench in the first Test, at least.
“Cameron Green will come into the playing XI for the Test in Adelaide in a squad also containing Scott Boland and Matthew Renshaw,” Bailey began.
“We have selected a team we believe contains the best six batters in the country.”
