UFC President Dana White has recently made some comments on Tom Aspinall that have sparked an outrage across the MMA community. Currently, Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall are the undisputed and interim heavyweight champions, respectively, so fans are eager to see a clash between the two. However, for now, “Bones” is set to face Stipe Miocic. While fans want Jones to fight Aspinall after this fight, Dana White feels the time has not come yet.
White about the interim champion
Recently, in an interview with Kevin Lole, White said that Aspinall is currently working to reach the top. “He is climbing the ladder. Everyone says, ‘He deserves this and he deserves that.’ He doesn’t deserve anything. He looks great and he looks like he’s going to be the guy,” said White.
However, Dana is also quite impressed with Aspinall’s recent victory over Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304 within 1 minute of the first round. White called him the future of the heavyweight division. He further stated that Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic deserve to fight each other. White said that both are experienced fighters in the UFC and have fought several quality fighters.
Aspinall is the backup fighter for Jones vs. Miocic
But everything is not bleak for Tom Aspinal, as Dana White has made him the backup fighter for the Jones vs. Miocic fight. The UFC President has also said that the winner of the bout will definitely face the UFC Interim Heavyweight champion for their next fight.

Dana White also claimed that this will be the last time “The Silencer” steps inside the UFC octagon. Miocic last fought in 2021 against Francis Ngannou and lost via knockout. Miocic is definitely way past his prime, so even if he pulls up a big upset, wins the title and retires, the situation will get even more complicated for Aspinall. And if Jon Jones retains the championship, there is no confirmation on whether he will continue to fight or not. Currently, things are not good for Aspinall and all he can do for now is wait for the Jones vs. Miocic matchup.
