UFC CEO Dana White has recently hinted at an important announcement about Conor McGregor’s potential return to the Octagon. “The Notorious” has been on a hiatus since July 2021 after he suffered a serious leg injury during a match against Dustin Poirier. McGregor was scheduled to return at UFC 303 and face Michael Chandler. However, the match was eventually postponed when the Irishman pulled out due to an injury, leaving fans waiting.
White hinted at McGregor’s potential return
Despite this setback, the former UFC champion has been quite confident about his return to the octagon. Most recently, he has expressed interest in fighting at UFC 310, which is set to take place on December 7, 2024. However, White has stated that McGregor’s return is contingent on him receiving the medical clearance.
During an Instagram live session, when White was promoting Power Slap’s Road to the Title show, he stated that news about Conor McGregor’s return will be coming soon, leading to widespread speculation among fans and analysts. Dana’s mention of potential updates on other fighters like Michael Chandler, Charles Oliveira and Max Holloway has further raised the speculation, especially since Holloway is already set to fight Ilia Topuria in a featherweight title match in October.
Conor McGregor is eager to fight this year
There has been a huge debate over McGregor’s potential return, especially after Dana White previously said that McGregor will not fight this year. However, recently, in an interview, the UFC CEO said that McGregor is adamant about his return before the end of the year. White, however, was cautious in keeping the door open for a potential return in December, noting that although nothing has been confirmed yet, a fight with McGregor could still happen this year if all goes well.
