It seems like Conor McGregor has rushed the fighting announcement with Chandler because, according to Dana White, he has not decided a date yet for this highly anticipated clash. Recently, White appeared on the Pat McAfee Show and shot down the idea. Just two days ago, McGregor suggested that the bout will be held this year, but White confirmed that nothing has been decided yet.
White makes big revelation
Dana White’s statement has now again upset the fans, as he said, “Right now, I don’t have a date for it.” Both fighters are desperate to get into the Octagon and everyone is all in for a clash in 2024, but according to White, not so early.
Dana White’s appearance at the Pat McAfee Show has definitely caused a stir. While addressing the much-awaited clash between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler, White opened up about the current situation surrounding it. The UFC CEO stated that the fight needs to happen, as they and everyone else have been waiting for it because it is indeed a great matchup. But he doesn’t have a date just now and not even a plan.
McGregor got the fans excited
Meanwhile, McGregor appears to be on a different page. He tweeted on X and wrote, “I talked to Dana today about our new date, all looking good, 24 for sure.”
The tweet suggested that a deal was on the way, which fueled the fans with excitement for the fight. Michael Chandler agreed to McGregor with this and responded with a handshake fist emoji. But White’s statement paints a different picture in front of fans and while there is excitement from all sides, nothing seems certain.
“But obviously, myself, the fans and ESPN would love for it to happen in 2024. But, we’ll see what happens,” White said further.
McGregor’s optimistic tweet on one hand and White’s restrained comments on the other underscores the uncertainty still surrounding the fight’s schedule. Before giving an update on the matchup, McGregor praised Donald Trump on X after the assassination attempt on him during a presidential rally in Pennsylvania. The attack was broadcast live and saw Trump getting attacked by a man who was later identified as a 30-year-old named Thomas Matthew Crooks. McGregor expressed his admiration for the former president’s perseverance.
