Judgement Day member Damian Priest won the WWE Heavyweight title at WrestleMania 40 by cashing in his Money in the Bank contract. He cashed the contract against Drew McIntyre, who won the title by defeating Seth Rollins and was attacked by CM Punk later. Priest took advantage of this and came out at the right time with his contract. He pinned the Scottish Warrior and became the new champion. He has been holding the Heavyweight title since then and has defended it at several PLEs.
Damian’s botched pin was heavily trolled online
Priest defended his championship against the former Heavyweight champion, Seth Rollins, at WWE Money in the Bank 2024. The title match between these two superstars was one of the most chaotic ones of the night. At one moment in the match, Priest was down and Seth Rollins was trying to pin him. While the referee counted to three, Priest didn’t kick out, causing a huge botch at the event. This moment was talked about on social media for several days and WWE got heavily trolled.
The Champion opened up about the moment
Now Damian Priest has finally opened up the big blunder. He indirectly revealed that he was genuinely knocked out after a severe concussion or head injury when Rollins was pinning him at Money in the Bank 2024. During an interview with the New York Post, Domain stated that it’s not like he forgot to kick out because he has been in the business for 20 years, so there is some kind of muscle memory there. “There was nothing outside that was supposed to happen. It was a matter of there was a situation, but I’m ok. Everybody is fine, the story continues,” said Damian.
Damian also revealed that the mess has not affected his booking and things are going as they should be and everything is fine. When WWE CEO Triple H was asked about the botched pin at the Money in the Bank 2024 post-show press conference, he looked unfazed and supported Priest by saying that humans make mistakes in the ring and that’s normal. “The Game” knows that if he were involved in something like that as a wrestler, that would probably be the only thing he would be thinking about. He understands how Damian must have felt.

Triple H further stated that Damian did a great job that night, but a lot of people would criticize him, so he wished to go back and turn off his phone so that no one would talk with the Judgement Day member for a while. The CEO ended the conversation about the blunder by praising Damian, Seth, McIntyre and CM Punk, who put in great efforts to make that match one of the best on the card.
