The Supreme Court of India’s ruling on Electoral Bonds transparency has begun to unveil names previously concealed due to privacy concerns. One such revelation pertains to the Indian Premier League franchise, Chennai Super Kings. Recent disclosures indicate that Chennai Super Kings Limited has reportedly made payments totalling approximately INR 3.8 Crore to the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) during the 2019 elections.
The revealed amount holds significant weight when compared to the total donations received by the party. Recent reports indicate that the AIADMK, based in Tamil Nadu, has received INR 6 crore in electoral bonds. Remarkably, approximately 63.33% of their total donations have allegedly originated from the sporting team, sparking considerable discussion within the cricketing community. Apart from the Chennai Super Kings Limited, the rest of the money has come from an individual donor and the Coimbatore-based Lakshmi Machine Works Limited.
Electoral Bonds To AIADMK
According to data uploaded by the State Bank of India (SBI), out of the 38 donations received by the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), a staggering 29 have originated from the Chennai Super Kings. Among these 29 bonds, 28 were valued at INR 10 lakhs each, while one amounted to INR 1 crore. This news has come under scrutiny primarily because it coincided with a period of turmoil within the AIADMK. Following the passing of the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, J Jayalalitha, the party navigated a challenging internal upheaval period.
What are Chennai Super Kings up to? Who are not available for Chennai Super Kings?
Chennai Super Kings have equalled the record set by Mumbai Indians in the previous campaign by clinching their fifth title in the Indian Premier League. As defending champions, they will kick off the season with a match against perennial underachievers, Royal Challengers Bangalore. The much-anticipated game between the two sides is scheduled to take place on March 22nd at Chepauk Stadium, Chennai.
Before the start of the campaign, there has been considerable speculation regarding the availability of Mahendra Singh Dhoni for the next season. Additionally, concerns have arisen about the availability of players such as Devon Conway and Matheesha Pathirana at the beginning of the campaign due to injuries sustained during their international commitments.
