Crystal Palace vs Wolverhampton: Preview
Crystal Palace form analysis
Palace’s league form leading into September has been inconsistent, producing 1 win, 3 draws and 1 defeat from their last 5 games.
They ended last season well by drawing 2-2 away at Fulham despite twice losing the lead. Palace then frustrated Nottingham Forest to a 1-1 home draw on the opening weekend.
A narrow 1-0 win away at Sheffield United got Palace up and running under Roy Hodgson. However, their form then fluctuated once again.
Palace produced an excellent defensive display before losing narrowly 0-1 at home to title contenders Arsenal. But they followed up with an underwhelming 1-1 draw away at Brentford last time out.
Overall, it’s been the best of starts to the new campaign for Palace. However, it is not outside what is expected of the club. Turning draws into wins is the next step, especially at home where they are yet to win
Wolverhampton form analysis
Wolves’ league form leading into September has been very poor, losing 3, winning 1 and drawing just 1 of their last 5 games.
They ended last season with three successive results without a win, including a 0-5 thrashing away at Manchester City. They also were just about able to leave with a point against Everton. That form has worryingly carried over into this campaign.
The club started the season with a narrow loss against Man United. The heavy 4-0 loss to Brighton damaged their momentum severely.
Wolves’ only consolation came from snatching a late 1-0 victory away at Everton last time out thanks to new signing Kalajdzic’s goal. But scoring just twice all season is a major concern.
Overall, it’s been an extremely disappointing start to 2022-23 for Wolves as they struggle to recover from losing key players like Neves. Finding a reliable source of goals and fast is critical to turning their form around.
