Crystal Palace form analysis
Palace’s recent Premier League form has been inconsistent, mixing some promising displays with disappointing defeats. They started this spell with a 1-3 loss away at Aston Villa despite Edouard giving them the lead. However, Palace responded well with a determined 0-0 home draw against Fulham. Their defense impressed again in a notable 0-1 away win at Manchester United thanks to Andersen’s goal. Palace were unable to build momentum though, only managing a goalless home draw with Nottingham Forest next up. Most recently, Palace’s struggles resurfaced in a heavy 0-4 home thrashing by high-flying Newcastle.
Overall, Palace have been typically well organized under Roy Hodgson but lacked attacking spark at times. The win at Old Trafford showed their potential, but goalless draws with Fulham and Forest highlighted offensive issues.
Tottenham form analysis
Tottenham Hotspur’s recent Premier League results demonstrate a team capable of winning tight games thanks to moments of individual brilliance, but also prone to periods of struggle. They started this run coming from behind to beat Sheffield United 2-1 with late goals from Richarlison and Kulusevski. A thrilling 2-2 away draw at rivals Arsenal followed as Son’s brace earned a point after Romero’s own goal had given Arsenal the lead. Spurs then narrowly beat Liverpool 2-1 courtesy of Son’s opener and a late Matip own goal. However, an uninspired display saw them struggle to a 1-0 away win at Luton Town in the FA Cup, with van de Ven scoring. Most recently though, Spurs returned to form by beating Fulham 2-0 at home with goals from Son and Maddison.
Overall, under Ange Postecoglou, Spurs remain highly dependent on the talents of Son and Madisson. When both are fit and firing, Spurs look extremely dangerous. But they can still suffer from lack of creativity and goals when one or both are absent, as the Luton game showed. If Postecoglou can make Spurs more cohesive and less reliant on individuals, they could challenge for the title.
