Crystal Palace vs Everton: Preview
Crystal Palace form analysis
Palace’s recent run of games has showcased their typical defensive solidity and occasional struggles in attack. They started with an impressive 1-0 away win at Manchester United thanks to Andersen’s first half goal against the run of play. However, problems in offense surfaced in a dour goalless home draw with Nottingham Forest next game, devoid of attacking spark or creativity. This continued away at Newcastle as Palace were well beaten 0-4, totally outplayed and blunt in the final third.
There was an improved display next match despite losing 1-2 at home to Spurs – posing an attacking threat before conceding twice in the second half. Most recently, Palace’s counters worked to perfection in an efficient 0-2 away win at Burnley. Claiming the points thanks to goals from Schlupp and Mitchell either side of halftime. Overall, Palace remain extremely tough to break down but lack flair going forward at times
Everton form analysis
Everton’s recent run of games has showcased defensive solidity but a lack of attacking spark holding them back. They started with a disappointing 1-2 home loss to Luton in the cup, going two behind early before Calvert-Lewin’s reply proved a consolation. There was an improved display next game, comfortably beating Bournemouth 3-0 at home thanks to goals from Garner, Harrison and Doucoure. However, problems in attack surfaced away at rivals Liverpool as they were well beaten 0-2, unable to threaten besides half chances.
Everton’s lack of offensive threat continued in their next match. Despite winning 1-0 away at West Ham courtesy of Calvert-Lewin’s clinical strike. Most recently they were forced to settle for a 1-1 home draw with Brighton. Going ahead early through Mykolenko before conceding late to an own goal. Overall, Everton’s performances have been stout defensively but devoid of creativity going forward. Adding flair and goals will be vital to avoiding another relegation scrap this season.
