Cricketer Suryakumar Yadav has suffered a Grade-II ankle tear, which is a major setback for India. The 33-year-old will be sidelined until February 2024, or seven weeks. The batter reportedly had scans done on his ankle after twisting it during a fielding play during the third Twenty20 International match against South Africa.
Due to his injury, he will not be able to play for the Men in Blue when they play Afghanistan at home in a three-match Twenty20 International series beginning on January 11. The 33-year-old will be at the NCA, where he will try to reintegrate into the team after taking some time off to heal.
The Indian Express reported, citing a BCCI source, “His recuperation will take some time. In order to complete his rehabilitation, he must report to the National Cricket Academy later. He will undoubtedly miss the Afghanistan series.”
Cricketer Suryakumar Yadav injury:
Due to Hardik Pandya’s absence—he is also out injured—the star batter was given the Indian captaincy for the Twenty20 Internationals. As things stand, Pandya and Suryakumar will not play against Afghanistan because the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is searching for a new captain.
Recently, India’s star batsman cricketer Suryakumar Yadav was seen leading his team in the Twenty20 International Series against South Africa, which ended in a 1-1 draw for the Men in Blue. Fans of the daring batter were concerned, though, as he twisted his ankle while fielding during the third Twenty20 International in Johannesburg.
The 33-year-old provided an update on his injury and stated he was OK after the game. But after returning from South Africa, the Indian cricket player reportedly underwent some scans, and it was discovered that he had a Grade-II tear in his ankle. Suryakumar has been sidelined for seven weeks due to an injury.
The cricketer, who was born in Mumbai, is having a great time off the field with his wife Devisha. The Indian batter posted a few photos from his trip to social media, showing him taking advantage of the cold weather while travelling abroad and sporting a pneumatic walking boot.
