Following Bengal’s final Ranji Trophy match of the season against Bihar, Manoj Tiwary has declared his retirement from cricket. He received recognition from the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) for his services to the game. Additionally, Cricketer Manoj Tiwary disclosed that he would like to request that MS Dhoni remove him from the team following his century.
Additionally, Manoj Tiwary claimed that in 2015, during their verbal exchanges, Gautam Gambhir referred to him as “immature.” He said that his biggest regret from his cricket career was his ugly altercation with Gautam Gambhir during the Ranji Trophy match against Delhi.
Cricketer Manoj Tiwary gets candid:
Manoj revealed, “The incident occurred when he came to bat wearing a cap, but before he realised that fast bowler Sumit Narwal was about to ball the over, he called for a helmet. Gautam Gambhir, who was standing in the first slip, sledged him as a result of this delay.”
“The only thing I regret is the fight I had with Gambhir that day because people who know me will tell you that I’m not the kind of person who goes around picking fights with seniors. I could have averted that particular memory. I get along well with my seniors, but one incident ruined my reputation,” Tiwary said to Sports Now.
He further revealed, “We were really close to each other at one point in our lives, which is why I said it was my biggest regret. We used to argue and strategize a lot about who to pick in Kolkata when we were players for Kolkata Knight Riders. Because of our strong friendship, we used to talk about details and contributions. However, things did not work out as they ought to have.”
Manoj Tiwary called the former captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders’ comments “immature” and claimed that Gambhir had threatened to meet with him outside the stadium.
Tiwary continued, “Yes, he was incredibly immature to say that, and I laugh at that. The journalist’s tent in Kotla is underground, so everyone can hear everything that goes on there. However, given my physical characteristics and his physical characteristics, it’s impossible to say who would have met whom.”
