Former UFC champion Conor McGregor was arrested and charged for careless driving in 2022 and almost went to jail. This meant that “The Notorious” could have had to serve more than six months in prison. The driving incident happened two years ago, but the case was pending proceedings and now it seems that the Irishman will escape a prison sentence. According to recent reports, McGregor has settled the matter with the authorities, but he has to pay a €5,000 fine, and he has also been banned from driving for the next two years.

Conor McGregor is the biggest and most popular UFC star. However he has been in controversy because of his battles with the law. In 2022, McGregor got involved in a case for reckless driving that could have led him to a jail sentence for more than six months. Conor committed several driving offenses and it was revealed that he was charged with driving without a license or insurance, which was later dismissed after he provided the correct documents in court. After a long series of driving violations, he has finally settled it with the authorities.
The Notorious got a five month suspension
The Irishman has accepted a five-month suspension and will pay €5,000 as fine for the violations. McGregor’s lawyer convinced the judge to explore other options instead of giving him a sentence. The UFC star recently revealed that his pinky toe injury has healed. A date for his fight against Michael Chandler is yet to be finalized. McGregor’s last appearance in the UFC octagon still remains the one against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. McGregor suffered a dominating TKO loss that led to a leg injury.
McGregor was set to headline UFC 303
The “Mystic Mac” was scheduled to face Michael Chandler this year at UFC 303 and finally make his highly anticipated UFC return. However, he had to withdraw from the clash as he suffered an injury in his pinky toe during training. The UFC 303 headliner was then replaced by Alex Pereira, who faced Jiri Prochazka in the rematch and defended his Light heavyweight title.
In recent days, the MMA superstar McGregor has also been called out to fight by several combat fighters. Social media influencer and pro boxer Jake Paul called out McGregor after winning against BKFC star Mike Perry. Then UFC Bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley called out the former champion and claimed he can beat the Irishman. Most recently, boxer Ryan Garcia called out McGregor for a bare knuckle fight.
