A few days ago, Conor McGregor was seen expressing his frustration at the UFC for not giving him a date to make a comeback. But now it seems that he is ready to make a return to boxing. The Irishman has expressed his interest in a boxing match against eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao. The UFC superstar has been out of action since July 2021, following a TKO loss to Dustin Poirier. While the 45-year-old, Pacquiao has been inactive since August 2021, when he lost to Yordenis Ugas. McGregor was in Saudi Arabia to watch the “Day of Reckoning event” on Saturday night.
Former UFC champion called out PacMan
In an interview, “The Notorious” called out Pacquiao and offered to forgive his debt if he fights him in a boxing match in Saudi Arabia. “How about me vs. Manny here in Saudi ? How does that sound? Wouldn’t you think that Manny should gain weight seeing as it’s his sport? He already owes me $8 million through court law. He was signed to my management company and didn’t honor his deal. So fight at my weight and I’ll pay that bill,” said McGregor.
McGregor expressed disappointment at the UFC
The last time McGregor ever fought in a boxing match was in 2017. The UFC superstar faced Floyd Mayweather and lost the bout via TKO. However, his boxing debut became one of the highest-rated PPV events in the sport.
Recently, in an interview, the Irishman expressed disappointment over the UFC’s delayed return plans. He spoke about the lack of communication from the UFC, contrasting it with a potential fight with Manny Pacquiao. The former UFC champion emphasizes his eagerness for concrete details, especially since his expected comeback dates have been pushed from December to April. Earlier, he stated his intention to return at UFC 300, but the plan did not come to fruition. McGregor is expected to return to face Michael Chandler, but the fight has not been officially confirmed yet.
