Conor McGregor has never shied away from verbal sparring with his biggest rival, Khabib Nurmagomedov. The Irishman seized on reports that said the former UFC champion was under investigation for tax evasion in Russia. Earlier this month, it was reported that Khabib is accused of allegedly underpaying his business taxes by an estimated $3.3 million USD. “The Notorious” reacted to this news on a live stream and labeled Nurmagomedov a ‘rat’ and also expressed his satisfaction with the situation.
McGregor didn’t hold back
“That’s typical rat behavior. He has bills to pay…he owes his bollocks to the Russian government,” said McGregor. The rivalry between McGregor and Nurmagomedov dates back to their 2018 UFC 229 encounter, where “The Eagle” scored the victory via submission. While Khabib is retired, McGregor has continued to fight and is now set to make his comeback in the UFC octagon on June 29, where he will face Michael Chandler at UFC 303. The Irishman welcomed the prospect of his opponent’s return to the UFC while enjoying the news of Nurmagomedov’s potential troubles. He said, “We all will welcome him back into the fight game where he’s ran from.”
Nurmagomedov retired from professional MMA in 2020 with an undefeated record. He has yet to publicly respond to the comments made by Conor McGregor or the tax evasion allegations.
Conor McGregor is known for his bold statements and is someone who never holds back his opinions. He has launched a scathing attack on several of his fellow UFC fighters and social media personalities on the same live stream session. The former UFC champion also criticized Leon Edwards and expressed his dissatisfaction with the English fighter’s tendency to win by decision.
The irishman criticized several people
McGregor also took aim at other notable UFC fighters, including Kamaru Usman, Ilia Topuria and Alexander Volkanovski, dismissing them with profanity-laden insults. Moreover, he also verbally attacked social media stars Adin Ross and True Geordie. He labeled Ross as irrelevant and called Geordie a fat fool. McGregor’s recent outburst has highlighted his controversial nature and straightforwardness to speak his mind despite potential consequences. A few days ago, he also criticized boxing sensation Ryan Garcia and MMA fighter Sean O’Malley for failing drug tests, despite having a friendly relationship with both of them.
