Now, McGregor has released a statement addressing the fans about the cancellation. In the UFC’s initial statement, no reason was given for the postponement. This led many people to speculate that McGregor’s recent behavior, which included partying less than six weeks before his comeback match in the Octagon, played a role.
McGregor apologized the fans for the cancelation
The Irishman took to X and released a statement regarding the UFC 303 press conference. Although McGregor apologized to his Irish fans and fans around the world, he did not explain why the event was canceled or when it would be rescheduled. He also appreciated the passion and support of the fans.
The Irishman is set to return after three years
The Notorious assured that his main event clash with Michael Chandler is still on. However, one of the fans suggested that it was McGregor’s alcohol consumption that was behind the mysterious press conference cancellation. McGregor’s last appearance in the UFC octagon was in 2021 against Dustin Poirier and he has been on a three-year hiatus since then. Now the former UFC Champion is finally going to make his return by facing “Iron” at UFC 303, a fight that has been in talks for over a year.

Sports Journalist Ariel Helwani reported that the UFC 303 press conference in Dublin was not canceled due to an alcohol or drug test violation and he also revealed that Michael Chandler found out about the cancellation while on his way to the airport in Dublin and opted to fly to Florida to resume his training. Helwani stated that there is no obscene story behind the press conference cancellation. The new date for the press conference is yet to be announced.
