Cody Rhodes scripted history at WrestleMania 40 by defeating Roman Reigns and dethroning him of the undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Recently, the newly made champion appeared on a podcast and revealed some unbelievable advice from a WWE Hall of Famer he got after that iconic night.
On Night Two of WrestleMania 40, “The American Nightmare” finished his story despite all the odds being against him. Cody Rhodes got huge help from big names like John Cena, Undertaker, Jey Uso and especially Seth Rollins (who told him he would be his shield). All these superstars made cameo appearances and helped him defeat the Head of the Table and win the Universal title.
The New champion got a special advice
Cody Rhodes appeared on the “Cheap Heat” podcast. While speaking to Peter Rosenberg he revealed an unexpected thing that WWE Hall of Famer John Bradshaw Layfield suggested to him after his win over “The Tribal Chief.”
Cody stated that he got some incredible advice from JBL after WrestleMania 40, but he didn’t expect it from him. JBL came up with some really amazing wisdom. The 38-year-old didn’t reveal a whole lot, but he did say that the advice was really special.
“JBL gave me some unbelievable advice after WrestleMania 40–that of all people, not that I wouldn’t expect it from him, but just that you’re hearing it from this guy, the person from the top, from all around. He said, ‘Try not at this point to focus on any numbers because you’ve already broken every record that matters,’ and I thought, ‘Oh, that’s what I wanted to hear at the time,” said Rhodes.
The Undertaker about Cody Rhodes
Night two of the WrestleMania was made more historic when the Deadman himself made an appearance as mentioned above. Undertaker’s surprise appearance saw him appearing behind The Rock and giving him the iconic chokeslam before disappearing into the darkness.
On his podcast “Six Feet Under,” The Undertaker said that even though Cody Rhodes has been portrayed as a babyface character since his return in the company, he gets “Heel vibes” from the The American Nightmare.
“I think he’ll be a good heel. He gives me heel vibes. I can see him very easily being smug and better than that. Don’t get carried away, but I can feel it in his character,” said Taker.
