SummerSlam 2024 was full of surprises and it ended with Roman Reigns teaching Solo Sikoa a lesson and helping Cody Rhodes to retain his Undisputed WWE title. This was Reigns’ first appearance since losing his title at WrestleMania 40. “The American Nightmare” defeated Reigns despite all odds being against him, as the Tribal chief was supported by The Bloodline members and The Rock. However, Cody eventually got some help from cameo appearances by John Cena and the Undertaker and he finally finished his story.
Rhodes acknowledged Roman Reigns
The Biggest party of the Summer saw Cody and Reigns in the same ring once again since WrestleMania 40, but this time not as rivals. At the SummerSlam 2024 post-event press conference, Cody broke his silence and talked about Roman Reigns’ grand return to WWE.
The American Nightmare said that he didn’t want to fill the room with positive talk and hot air about the return of Reigns but admitted that things would have gone different ways and he wouldn’t be sitting there if it wasn’t for the Tribal Chief. “I’ve got quite a list of people who I owe one. I might owe him more than one. And again, no love lost, that’s as much of a shoot as it gets. There’s a unique relationship, I think. We haven’t seen or spoken since WrestleMania,” said Rhodes.
The Undisputed WWE champion Cody also acknowledged that WWE fans wanted to see Roman Reigns in action again. SummerSlam 2024 was definitely a hit with lots of interesting moments. Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa lived up to expectations, just like the WrestleMania 40 contest between Rhodes and Reigns.
In the last moments of the match, the Tonga brothers attacked Cody to help Sikoa win the title. However, “The American Nightmare” had the same backup plan as WrestleMania. Randy Orton and Kevin Owens took out the Tonga brothers and got involved in a backstage fight, leaving Solo and Cody alone.
Jacob Fatu then attacked Rhodes and Sikoa almost won. However, suddenly Roman Reigns’ music hit and he made the stunning entry in the ring with a superman punch to Sikoa. Then quickly the Tribal Chief hit a spear at him.
WWE is up to some greater plans for the Bloodline
WWE seems to be planning something big for the Bloodline storyline. WWE fans will see big matches, reunions and betrayals. This rivalry will possibly last till WrestleMania and The Rock could return, making things more intense. The Final Boss himself once expressed his desire to fight Roman Reigns at a grand stage like WrestleMania. So fans could finally see this clash happening next year.
