CM Punk has an amazing wrestling career, but he has also been commendable with his acting career. The Second City Saint has been part of some good Hollywood projects and has appeared in a few television series. His recent work was for four episodes of the “Mayans M.C.” TV series. However, his most popular role was Ricky Babies in the wrestling series Heels, where he acted alongside Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig. The thing that people don’t know is that the role that Punk did so well wasn’t the first choice for him.
How did Punk got the role of Ricky Rabies?
Stephen Amell recently appeared on Insight with Chris Van Vliet for his show and explained how Punk was initially not a part of it but later made his way into it. “He wasn’t originally in that part. We had shot a lot of stuff with a different actor—a different actress— playing Ricky Rabies and I think Vickie Rabies, maybe?” said Amell.
He further revealed that the original cast opted out of the show due to the COVID-19 pandemic when Punk stepped in. Amell said, “I stand by my match that I had with him, it was a lot of fun and if that’s five percent of the reason that we got him back in the business, I’m good with that.” Amell also stated that CM Punk doesn’t take crap from anyone. He said he regrets not being able to attend Punk’s return to pro wrestling in AEW Rampage.
The Heels show was canceled in 2023, but the two seasons have already started to air on streaming platform Netflix. Depending on the series’ performance on Netflix, the streaming platform might pick up the show for season 3, which former showrunner Mike O’Malley believes might eventually happen.
Batista praised CM Punk’s acting potential
A few days ago, former WWE superstar Batista praised CM Punk’s acting skills and said that the Straight Edge Superstar has immense acting potential and he would like to work with him on some Hollywood projects in the future. However, it doesn’t seem like Punk will return to acting anytime soon, as his WWE career is on the upswing.
