Ahead of Saturday’s NXT Deadline Premium live event, there was speculation on social media that CM Punk could be making an appearance. Amazingly not only did he, but opened the show with none other than Shawn Michaels. A few hours before the show, Punk posted that he missed his flight and wondered if anything was happening on Saturday night. To that Michaels responded that since Punk was still in town, the best thing would be to turn their scheduled phone call into an in-person meeting.
HBK and CM Punk had a good chat
Michaels invited him to the show and then Triple H responded by tweeting, “I gotta see this.” When Punk arrived at the show, Shawn was already in the ring. He asked the audience if they were ready and then Punk’s music played and he came out smiling. He was excited to share the ring with HBK. Michaels poked fun at the fact that the former AEW star was wearing a Bret Hart hoodie, then asked him for a selfie. Both took the selfie and then Shawn said that everyone wants to know what his decision is going to be on Monday night.
They were going with the flow
The segment seemed like it wasn’t planned. HBK said he had forgotten his lines and Punk said that since everyone was forgetting things, he would just go with the flow. When Michaels looked like he was going to say something, Punk’s music actually started playing. It was clear that the company wanted Punk to promote his appearance on Monday. It will likely sell tickets and help boost ratings. This was a slightly silly segment, but Michaels and CM Punk were going with the flow. Both WWE Superstars looked like they were having great fun.

Since the time CM Punk made his return to the WWE after showing up in the WWE Survivor series, the happiness of WWE fans has been on another level. Just a few weeks before Punk’s return, the Viper Randy Orton also made his comeback and now the audience is getting good entertainment from the veterans. Since then, the boost in ratings for WWE has also been high, which is a good sign for the company.
