CM Punk is currently enjoying a great run in WWE, but given his age, there is no denying that his in-ring career has a very few years left. However, it’s not as soon as his critics might think. The Straight Edge superstar is still quite athletic and energetic. There are still many things that Punk wants to achieve before he retires. The former WWE Champion started the latest episode of Monday Night Raw with this very thing. An angry CM Punk, who looked clearly upset and disappointed with McIntyre’s actions, first responded to his critics in a concrete fashion. He said that now a lot of times people ask him when he is going to retire and the answer surprises him.
Punk’s reply to the critics
Speaking on Raw, The Second City Saint said, “Many times in my career people have asked me, ‘How many matches do I have left in these old bones?’ Depending on how you feel about me, the answer is either wildly disappointing or makes you tremendously happy. Because the answer is way more than you think.”
It has been more than 27 years that Punk has been in the wrestling profession. He began his wrestling career in 1997 and it’s not that he became a star after coming to WWE. In 2005, he was already a major wrestling superstar in Ring of Honor, where he was the ROH Champion.
The Cookie Master made a rapid rise in popularity
WWE just gave him worldwide recognition and it did not take him long to make his mark in the company. Notably, in 2006 at Survivor Series, CM Punk chants echoed across the stadium, leaving Triple H and Shawn Michaels with a sour taste in their mouths. This was just the beginning for Punk. Within a few years of his WWE debut, Punk became one of the biggest superstars in the company and this happened when John Cena was the face of WWE. In 2014, when Punk left WWE on a sour note, he did not look back for almost a decade and it was only in 2023 that the company approached him and Punk decided to return.

Currently, Punk’s storyline with Drew McIntyre is one of the hottest in the company. The two don’t like each other even a bit as they have a real-life feud as well. Punk launched a fierce attack against “The Scottish Warrior” and said in a stern tone that he will make McIntyre bleed in Hell in a Cell. “Drew McIntyre, I promise I’m gonna kill you. I’m gonna make you bleed and I promise you are gonna have to kill me because I’m prepared to die,” said Punk. The two are set to battle each other for the final time at Bad Blood on October 5, 2024. The match is going to take place in a Hell in a Cell set-up, so it promises more entertainment and intensity.
