The latest Money in the Bank event got off to a great start, leading to Drew McIntyre grabbing the Money in the Bank contract. The night started with Jey Uso, whose energetic entrance immediately got the crowd excited. He was followed by Andrade, LA Knight, Chad Gable, Carmelo Hayes and finally Drew McIntyre. Jey Uso and LA Knight were the fan favorites to win the MITB, with the audience eagerly awaiting their moves.
The match began with intense action
The action began with a dramatic confrontation between Uso and Knight, which was quickly interrupted by the introduction of ladders into the ring. The Scottish Warrior attempted to climb first, but Gable stopped him with an arm lock. Andrade took advantage by executing a top rope leg drop, which trapped Gable’s foot in the ladder rungs and prompted huge chants from the crowd. Carmelo Hayes showed off his agility with a springboard clothesline on Andrafe, prompting “We want tables” chants from the audience. Andrade responded with an inverted Spanish fly into the ladder on Hayes, delivering consecutive high spots that kept the crowd on their feet.
The Scottish Warrior captured the Briefcase
The action got even more intense after Hayes and Knight clashed, leading to lounder chants. The Scottish warrior then cleared the ring and went for the briefcase, but Uso and Knight thwarted his attempt and delivered a stunning Uso splash to him, followed by Hayes’ attempt to capture the briefcase. However, Andrade created a ladder setup, leading to a tremendous sunset flip powerbomb on Hayes.
As the match came to an end, Knight’s turn climbing the ladder came to an abrupt end when Gable dropped him from behind onto the outside ladder. Gable was himself left hanging from the briefcase after Uso removed the ladder, and then received a spear from him. Jey Uso came close to victory, but then McIntyre interfered and eventually took the briefcase amid chaotic moments.
CM Punk cost Drew his contract
McIntyre cashed in his Money in the Bank the same night during the match between Damian Priest and Seth Rollins, making it a triple threat match. When he was about to score the victory, CM Punk interfered and attacked him, giving Priest the opportunity to hit a chokeslam and retain the match. Punk cost McIntyre the MITB contract, and Seth Rollins another chance at Priest for the World title because he technically lost without getting involved in the pin.
