The Royal Rumble 2024 is just two days away and soon the WWE fans will see which superstar will get a title shot at the WrestleMania 40. Before that, CM Punk and Cody Rhodes are continuing their heated rivalry coming off of Monday’s go-home WWE Raw. Both were the first two competitors named for the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble match. After some heated conversation, the rivalry between “Cookie Monster” and “The American Nightmare” escalated on this week’s WWE RAW when Punk brought up the late Dusty Rhodes.
“The American Dream” and CM Punk were close and he claimed that Dusty asked him to keep an eye on Cody during his WWE journey. Punk said yes and watched Cody become a WWE superstar.
Punk’s Instagram stories
Punk also talked about Cody and his father for a cruel reason- he felt like he was breaking his promise at the Royal Rumble on Saturday. The Chicago native threatened Rhodes and said he would do anything to win on Saturday. CM Punk posted photos of Dusty and his son on his Instagram stories today.

He didn’t post any captions on the post, but chose A$AP Ferg and Future’s song “New Level.” Punk has teamed up and even faced Cody as an opponent several times during his stints in OVW and WWE.
Punk has often credited these legends for his early success
Dusty Rhodes and Terry Funk were among the WWE Hall of Famers who endorsed CM Punk. The former WWE champion often talked about how close he was to Dusty Rhodes. He has credited legends like Funk, Rhodes and Harley Race for his early success. Punk and “The American Dream” even worked together once at the WrestleReunion event in 2005.
