Chesterfield vs Kettering Town: Preview
Chesterfield form analysis
The Spireites began with an excellent 3-2 home win over Wealdstone, coming from behind as goals from Berry-McNally, Mandeville and Jacobs sealed the points. They built on that by edging past Rochdale 2-1 away from home thanks to strikes from summer signings Dobra and Naylor. However, Chesterfield did then drop points in a 1-1 draw away at Maidenhead as Jacobs could only equalize Sho-Silva’s opener. They quickly returned to winning ways though, comfortably dispatching Bromley 2-0 at home courtesy of goals from Quigley and Naylor. Last time out, Chesterfield made it back-to-back victories with a 0-2 win away at Boreham Wood sealed by Mandeville and Quigley.
Overall, it’s been a very promising start to the season for Chesterfield as they target an immediate return to the EFL following last term’s relegation. They’ve added goals from midfield with the likes of Jacobs and Mandeville impressing, alongside striker Quigley. But maintaining these high performance levels will be crucial.
Kettering Town form analysis
Kettering began their campaign with a 1-1 home draw against St Ives Town in a tightly contested match. They built on that by winning 2-1 away at Bromsgrove Sporting to get off the mark. Kettering then earned another point at home against Needham Market as they drew 1-1 again, showing resilience. However, they suffered a setback as they were held to a 2-2 away draw by Long Eaton last time out, having to come from behind twice. In between, Kettering did suffer a heavy 0-4 home defeat to Hitchin Town in the cup.
Overall, it’s been a solid if unspectacular start to the season for Kettering as they adapt to life back in the Northern Premier League after relegation. They’ve been typically well organized but lacked attacking spark, scoring just 4 goals in their 5 games so far.
