Chelsea are reportedly considering offloading two of their attacking stars, Raheem Sterling and Noni Madueke, to make room for the potential return of Joao Felix.
The Blues, who are navigating a busy summer transfer window, are eyeing Felix as a key addition to their squad, with Atletico Madrid seemingly open to a deal in the region of £40 million.
Chelsea Eye Joao Felix Return, Sterling and Madueke Set for Exit?
The interest in Felix comes after a failed attempt to sign Samu Omorodion from Atletico Madrid. Now, Chelsea’s focus has shifted back to the Portuguese forward, who impressed during his loan spell at Stamford Bridge last season.
Felix, who can operate across the front line, could be the versatile attacker Chelsea needs to boost their options as they aim to compete on multiple fronts.
However, Felix’s arrival would likely force Chelsea to trim their squad, with Sterling and Madueke among those who could face the exit door. Sterling, who joined Chelsea from Manchester City last summer, has struggled to find his best form in West London.
Juventus has emerged as a possible destination for the England international, but his hefty wage demands—reported to be over £300,000 per week—might prove to be a stumbling block for the Serie A giants.
Madueke, on the other hand, is also facing an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge. Despite only joining the club 18 months ago from PSV Eindhoven for £28.5 million, his position is under threat following the recent arrival of Pedro Neto from Wolves.
The Portuguese winger’s £54 million transfer adds to Chelsea’s already crowded attacking lineup, which includes the likes of Cole Palmer, Mykhailo Mudryk, and Christopher Nkunku.
With Newcastle United reportedly monitoring Madueke’s situation, Chelsea could be open to offers for the young English winger, especially if they manage to secure Felix’s signature. The club’s new-look attack under Mauricio Pochettino will need to be balanced, and the return of Felix might be the catalyst for further changes.
The situation remains fluid, but one thing is clear: Chelsea is ready to make bold moves to reshape their squad, and some big names could be sacrificed to bring Joao Felix back to Stamford Bridge.
