Former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira is set to return to fighting. UFC 300 in April was the last time fans saw him fighting, where he suffered a split decision defeat to Arman Tsarukyan. Initially, “Do Bronxs” wanted to return in early June or July, but his team wanted him to rest because, apart from the physical damage, the mental aspect was also crucial for Oliveira. The match he lost was a potential title contender fight, so the loss would have definitely affected him.
But now, the Brazilian looks all set to return. Recently, while talking about a potential return date, Charles Oliveira stated that he is hoping to return sometime around October or November. Speaking about his potential opponent, “Do Bronx” said, “Something new will come out soon.”
Oliveira nearly defeated his opponent at UFC 300
At UFC 300, Oliveira nearly defeated Arman Tsarukyan, so he didn’t rule out the possibility of a rematch either. During the bout in April, Oliveira looked in control of Tsarukyan at the beginning and held his opponent in such a stiff grip that it seemed that the match was over for “Ahalkalakets.” However, the Armenian fighter showed incredible power and withstood the attacks. Once Arman began dominating, there was no coming back for his opponent.
Do Bronx could get the title fight
Although Tsarukyan won the fight, before the match began and he was coming out to his entrance music, the Armenian fighter got into an altercation with a fan. Getting involved in the scuffle led to Arman getting a nine-month ban. This was quite surprising for his fans, as Tsarukyan was in line for a potential title fight against current Lightweight champion Islam Makhachev.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Charles Oliveira’s coach questioned the possibility of giving the Brazilian fighter the title fight. With Tsarukyan suspended right now, there will be no other fighter other than Oliveria for a potential title fight opponent. Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje also got knocked out recently. “The truth is, with Arman out of the game, I believe there is no one at 155 to fight Makhachev other than Charles,” said Oliveira’s coach, Diego Lima.
