Celta Vigo vs Cadiz: Preview
Celta Vigo form analysis
Celta’s form has faltered after an encouraging start to the season. Registering three defeats, a draw and just one victory from their last five outings. TheGalicians kicked off this poor run by crashing to a 3-0 home loss against Champions League chasers Atletico Madrid, comfortably beaten by Antoine Griezmann’s perfect hat-trick on October 22nd. Further defeat followed away at high-flying Girona, before Celta stopped the rot by claiming a battling point at home in a 1-1 draw with Sevilla on November 4th.
However, they returned to losing ways a week later in an eight goal thriller against Athletic Bilbao, edged out 4-3 in a dramatic contest despite three different goalscorers finding the net. Most recently on November 25th, Celta were forced to settle for a goalless home draw by Valencia. Overall Celta have struggled defensively conceding 13 goals across these five games, an issue coach Carlos Carvalhal must address for them to pull away from a potential relegation scrap this term.
Cadiz form analysis
Cádiz have endured a difficult period recently. Producing just one win and one draw compared to three defeats in their last five matches. The struggling Andalusians kicked off this poor run of form with a narrow 1-0 home loss to high-flying Girona on October 7th. Back-to-back losses promptly followed away against Valencia and at home against Champions League chasing Sevilla, before salvaging a battling point at home in a dramatic 2-2 draw against city rivals Sevilla on October 29th – twice taking the lead through Chris Ramos and Anthony Lozano.
However, consecutive defeats followed after a 1-0 loss at home against Getafe, before being comfortably dispatched 3-0 by Champions Real Madrid on November 26th. Overall Cádiz have struggled at both ends of the pitch. Keeping one clean sheet while only scoring three goals across this period. Addressing these struggles in attack and defence is vital if Sergio Gonzalez’s side are to avoid relegation this term.
