Aquile del Sud had shown promising form heading into the winter break but have struggled for consistency in their recent Serie B matches. On 3rd December, they grinded out a vital 1-0 home win over Bari thanks to Buso’s 70th minute strike. However, they were brought back down to earth on 9th December with a 0-2 home loss to Sampdoria, going two behind to Esposito’s brace before the break. Lecco returned to winning ways on 17th December but were made to work hard in a 3-2 home victory over Ternana, squandering a two goal lead before grabbing the points through Luperini.
Their inconsistent form continued on 23rd December as they drew 2-2 away at Venezia after leading through Lepore’s penalty before twice falling behind in the second half. Lecco ended 2023 on a high with a come from behind 2-1 home win over Südtirol on 26th December, with goals from Novakovich and Novakovich overturning Casiraghi’s opener. Overall, Lecco have shown attacking threat but defensive issues have cost them recently, keeping just one clean sheet during this spell.
