Cadiz vs Celta Vigo: Preview
Cadiz form analysis
El Submarino Amarillo has struggled to score goals lately, being shut out in three of their last five matches. Their most recent match on February 17th saw them lose 2-0 away to Osasuna. Cadiz failed to register a shot on target the entire match as Osasuna dominated possession. Earlier on February 10th, Cadiz suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Real Betis, conceding goals in the 6th minute to Willian José and 46th minute to Pablo Fornals. Prior to that on February 4th, Cadiz ground out a 0-0 draw away to Villarreal.
While they managed just one shot on target, Cadiz did well defensively to keep a clean sheet. On January 28th, Cadiz played to a goalless draw at home against Athletic Bilbao in a very even match statistically. Cadiz’s best recent performance came on January 20th when they defeated Alaves 1-0 at home on a 51st minute penalty kick goal from Luis Rioja. Overall, Cadiz has struggled offensively, scoring only one goal in their last five matches. Defensively they have fared better, keeping three clean sheets, but were badly exposed in their most recent loss to Osasuna.
Celta Vigo form analysis
Celta Vigo has struggled defensively in recent matches, conceding at least two goals in three of their last five games. On February 17th, they lost 2-1 at home to Barcelona after taking an early second half equalizer from Iago Aspas. However, they conceded late to a 90th minute Robert Lewandowski penalty. Earlier on February 11th, Celta Vigo was involved in a high-scoring 3-2 away loss to Getafe despite getting goals from Strand Larsen and Allende. Prior to that on February 4th, Celta Vigo earned an impressive 3-0 away win over Osasuna with goals from Strand Larsen, de la Torre and Douvikas.
On January 28th, Celta Vigo suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Girona on a 20th minute goal from Portu. Offensively, Aspas and Larsen have provided goals, but the attack has struggled for consistency. Their best recent defensive performance came in a narrow 1-0 away loss to Real Sociedad on January 21st. Overall, Celta Vigo’s porous defense has let them down in recent matches, overshadowing an offense capable of scoring goals but lacking consistency. Tighter organization at the back could see improved results.
