Burnley vs Bournemouth: Preview
Burnley form analysis
The Clarets have endured a miserable run of results in recent Premier League matches. After a lopsided 1-3 home loss to Manchester City on February 1st, Burnley showed some life in drawing 2-2 at home against Fulham on February 3rd. However, the defensive issues persisted against stiffer competition in their next matches. Burnley fell 1-3 away at Liverpool on the 10th despite equalizing before halftime. Worse was to follow in their next match, getting utterly outclassed at home 0-5 by Arsenal on the 17th.
Hoping to reboot, Burnley instead stumbled to another defeat in their latest match, falling 0-3 away at Crystal Palace on February 24th. Overall, Burnley have looked completely overmatched and bereft of confidence in recent games. An inability to maintain shape or organization and lack of ideas in attack have repeatedly undermined them. Though the margins got slightly better from the Arsenal nadir, defensive solidity and a ruthless edge must be rediscovered for Burnley to have any hope of surviving relegation this season. Points must start arriving soon with the club six adrift of safety.
Bournemouth form analysis
It has been a difficult spell in recent Premier League matches for Bournemouth. After a promising 1-1 draw away at West Ham on February 2nd, scoring first on a D. Solanke effort, Bournemouth took a point away to Nottingham Forest four days later thanks to a J. Kluivert opener, though they conceded just before halftime. However, defeats followed in their next two matches – a 1-3 home loss to Fulham on the 10th despite a M. Senesi reply and a 2-2 draw at home against Newcastle on the 17th after twice going ahead through D. Solanke and A. Semenyo but getting pegged back both times.
Most recently on February 24th, Bournemouth struggled to create in a 0-1 home defeat to Manchester City, dominated throughout. Overall, Bournemouth have competed well in spells but lacked a clinical edge, both on attack and defense . Tighter organization will be key towards turning positive play into crucial points as they battle to avoid relegation. The talent and spirit seem present, but added discipline and consistency is required week to week.
