Brentford vs Bournemouth: Preview
Brentford form analysis
The Bees inflicted a heavy 1-3 defeat on Champions League chasing Spurs on the penultimate day of the last season. Mbeumo grabbed a brace in an excellent performance.
They built on that by securing a memorable 1-0 win over champions Man City on the opening weekend, thanks to Pinnock’s late winner.
However, their form then fluctuated. Brentford fought back twice to draw 2-2 at home to Spurs as Mbeumo and Wissa’s goals earned them a point.
They followed it up with another incredible performance, comfortably beating Fulham 0-3. Brentford then went on to settle for a 1-1 draw away at Crystal Palace in a lackluster display, taking the lead before being pegged back.
Overall, it’s been an up and down but encouraging start for Brentford. At their best, they have shown they can live with the league’s elite thanks to their effective direct attacking.
But maintaining consistency and tightening up defensively will be key to pushing for a top half finish.
Bournemouth form analysis
Bournemouth have found the step up to the Premier League extremely difficult so far, losing 4 and drawing just 1 of their opening 5 matches.
They ended last season with heavy defeats to teams around them, which has set the tone for this campaign. After losing 0-1 at home to Manchester United, Bournemouth were beaten by Everton on the final day.
That form has continued into the new season. After a promising 1-1 draw at home to West Ham, Bournemouth have suffered three consecutive defeats without scoring.
Liverpool overcame falling behind early to win 3-1 and highlight Bournemouth’s defensive issues. Spurs then comfortably beat them 0-2 at home.
Overall, lacking resilience and a goal threat, early signs suggest another relegation battle awaits unless they can tighten up defensively and find the net more regularly.
