Bournemouth vs Newcastle United: Preview
Bournemouth form analysis
Bournemouth’s recent run of games has exposed their limitations at both ends of the pitch as they struggle to adapt after promotion. They started with an expected heavy 0-4 home loss to Arsenal, torn apart from start to finish. There was little improvement next game as they lost 0-3 at home to Everton. Due to passive defensively and devoid of attacking spark. Bournemouth battled better in their next match but still came up short in a 1-2 home loss to Wolves, caught out defensively twice despite taking the lead through Solanke.
They ended their losing streak with a vital 2-1 home win over Burnley thanks to goals from Semenyo and Billing, showing endeavour and grit. However, a reality check came in their latest game as they were thrashed 1-6 at champions Man City, barely laying a glove on their opponents in a sobering defeat. Overall, Bournemouth have looked out of their depth so far and it is hard to see anything but a relegation scrap ahead unless they can strengthen significantly in January.
Newcastle United form analysis
Newcastle’s recent run of games has showcased an emerging lethal attack combined with defensive stability. They started with an excellent 2-0 home win over Burnley thanks to goals from Almiron and Isak. Their flair going forward was evident again next match as they drew 2-2 away at West Ham. Twice leading through Isak but conceding late. Newcastle’s firepower reached new heights in their next game, demolishing Palace 4-0 at home with goals from Murphy, Gordon, Longstaff and Wilson.
However, defensive issues briefly surfaced in their following match. Throwing away a two goal lead to draw 2-2 at Wolves before rallying late. Back to their best in their latest game, Newcastle impressively beat title chasing Arsenal 1-0 at home. Courtesy of a clinical Gordon strike on the break to earn a statement win. Overall, Newcastle have looked extremely dangerous on the counter attack but maintained solidity at the back. If they can sustain this balance, hopes of a top-four push don’t seem unrealistic this season.
