Bournemouth vs Burnley: Preview
Bournemouth form analysis
Boscombe’s recent Premier League results highlight a club struggling badly after promotion last season. They started reasonably by holding Chelsea 0-0, but then suffered a 1-3 loss away at Brighton despite Solanke’s opener. Things deteriorated as Bournemouth were thrashed 0-4 at home by Arsenal, outclassed from start to finish. Everton heaped further misery with a 3-0 win at Goodison Park thanks to goals from Garner, Harrison and Doucoure. Most recently, Bournemouth lost another tight game 1-2 at home to Wolves, with Solanke’s goal cancelled out by Cunha and Kalajdzic strikes.
Overall, Bournemouth have looked extremely vulnerable, conceding 13 goals across this run. Andoni Iraola has struggled to shore up their leaky defense or establish any momentum. If Bournemouth continue in this vein, relegation looks likely. Bringing in new signings like Darlow and Freuler has added some steel, but vast improvements are still required. However, time is running out for Bournemouth to turn their season around.
Burnley form analysis
Burnley’s recent results highlight a club struggling to adapt in the Championship after relegation from the Premier League last season. They started with a 0-1 home loss to Manchester United, undone by Fernandes’ goal. Things worsened as they lost 0-2 away at Newcastle thanks to strikes from Almiron and Isak’s penalty. However, Burnley did show fight by coming from behind to beat Luton Town 2-1 away in the EFL Cup, with goals from Foster and Bruun Larsen. But defensive issues persisted in a 1-4 home loss to Chelsea in the FA Cup, collapsing after taking the lead through Odobert. Most recently, poor form continued as they lost heavily 0-3 away at Brentford.
Overall, Burnley have lacked stability, conceding 11 goals across these five games. Manager Vincent Kompany has struggled to instill organization and steel into a constantly changing backline. Going forward, Burnley have relied heavily on set pieces and crosses into the box. If Kompany can address their defensive issues and add more flair in attack, Burnley could yet challenge for promotion again. But on current form, struggles look set to continue unless major improvements are made, especially defensively where Burnley have looked vulnerable.
