When it came to light that the Boston Celtics had emerged as the favorites to win the title in the 2023-24 season, it didn’t take long for NBA fans to give their opinions on social media. Legion Hoops posted the news on their official X page, and several fans were sent into complete disbelief and took to the comment sections to give this information a roast session.
Netizens roasted the team
One of the users stated that it is extremely unlikely for the Celtics to win it all in the upcoming season , saying “ Pigs have a better chance to fly”. Some others highlighted that this news is nothing because Celtics have emerged as favorites in the past too, but they haven’t delivered yet.
Celtics had a good run in previous seasons
Boston Celtics are yet to claim their 18th NBA championship and break the tie with their arch-rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers. Boston has performed better in the league in each of the last two seasons under the leadership of All-Stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. The team finished with their second-best record in the Eastern Conference, 51-31, in the 2021-2022 season. They used this as a starting point to reach the NBA Finals. Unfortunately, they failed to win the title by losing to the Golden State Warriors in the six-game championship series.

Last season, the Celtics were once again one of the top teams after finishing the regular season with their second best record in the league (57-25). But surprisingly, they struggled in the playoffs but still managed to reach the Eastern Conference Finals, where they defeated the 8th seed Miami Heat in seven games before getting eliminated.
The team has the 7 foot star in the roster now
For the upcoming season, Boston has decided to make changes to its lineup, aiming to create a mix of players that can complete the current NBA landscape. They replaced key veterans Marcus Smart and Grant Williams with one-time All-Star Kristaps Porzingis, among others. With the 7 foot Porzingis, Celtics have added size to their frontline and created more spacing with his ability to finish shots from outside.
