Bologna vs Frosinone: Preview
Bologna form analysis
Bologna’s recent Serie A matches highlight a well-organized team that’s tough to beat but lacks cutting edge in attack. They started this period with successive goalless draws away at Verona and at home against league leaders Napoli. A third straight draw followed away at Monza in another tight game. Bologna finally got their first win with a determined 3-0 result away at Empoli, thanks to a hat-trick from winger Riccardo Orsolini. However, their struggles converting chances resurfaced in a 2-2 home draw with Inter Milan, despite Orsolini again scoring from the penalty spot.
Overall, Bologna seem very solid defensively under coach Thiago Motta, having conceded just 3 goals in this run. But they lack productivity up front, scoring more than once only against Empoli. Orsolini has been their main threat with 4 of Bologna’s 5 goals. If Motta can get striker Zirkzee fully fit and firing, it would add vital cutting edge. But currently Bologna seem overly reliant on low-scoring wins. Tighter performances must be turned into more goals and points for Bologna to push up the table.
Frosinone form analysis
Frosinone’s recent Serie A results show a newly promoted side capable of scoring goals and pushing opponents, but with defensive vulnerabilities. They started brightly by beating Sassuolo 4-2 in a thriller despite trailing 2-0 early on. Goals from Cheddira, Mazzitelli and Lirola completed the comeback. A solid 1-1 home draw with Salernitana followed as Romagnoli netted. Frosinone then held Fiorentina 1-1 thanks to Soulé’s leveller. However, defensive issues resurfaced in a 0-2 loss away at high-flying Roma. Most recently though, Frosinone earned an impressive 2-1 home win over Verona, with goals from Reinier and Soulé.
Overall, Frosinone have shown they can trouble opponents with their attacking talents like Cheddira and new signing Soulé. But they remain prone to defensive lapses, having conceded at least once in every game during this spell. Frosinone have enough firepower to pull clear of relegation danger in their first season back in Serie A.
