Basketball Coach Bill Self has signed a new deal with the Kansas Jayhawks that makes him the highest-paid coach in men’s college basketball. According to a report, this is set to be a lifetime deal for Bill. He signed a five-year, $53 million contract with the Jayhawks. He will earn more than $13 million in compensation, and his new five-year deal will be in place for the next five years. Before Self’s new contract, it was Kentucky’s John Calipari who held the title of highest-paid men’s college basketball coach.
Bill has led schools to many big victories

Bill Self has been named Coach of the Year several times and he has also led the schools he has coached to big wins, some even winning championships. The last time he led Kansas University to a title was in 2022, with Christian Braun and Ochai Agbaji being the most notable players on the roster. The 60-year-old has trained some of the most recognized players on the professional scene, including Mario Chalmers, the Morris twins and Joel Embiid.
The 60-year-old recognizes talent

Bill Self always recognizes talent when he sees it. This is one reason why he is still at the top of his game when it comes to coaching. He has been coaching for Kansas for 20 years, and he knows which players have the talent to play the game. During Big 12 Media Day, Self said in an interview that Hunter Dickinson is the best offensive big man I’ve ever had. Hunter spent the first three years of his college career playing for Ann Arbor. Last season, he averaged 18.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists for Michigan.
Travis Goff about Self

Athletic Director Travis Goff said, “Bill Self is undoubtedly the most consistent coach in college basketball, and restructuring the terms of his contract is long overdue. In the ever-changing collegiate athletics environment, our strong commitment to Coach Self positions KU basketball to maintain and enhance its status as the most storied program in the country”.
