Brazilian MMA fighter Renan Ferreira has made a bold declaration at the PFL Super Fights press conference. Renan is set to face Francis Ngannou and claims to be the toughest challenge “The Predator” will face this year. Ngannou’s year has already been tragic as he lost his 15-month-old son Kobe.
The Cameroonian fighter will return to the cage in Riyadh on October 19 against Renan Ferreira. Fans are wondering if the tragic loss’ stress will affect Ngannou’s return to the combat world.
Ferreira didn’t stop at just a warning. The Brazilian made it clear that he believes Francis Ngannou will face a tougher challenge than he expected. “Francis is going through a tough year in his life, but the toughest challenge in his life and his year is gonna be me. I’m gonna be the biggest problem of his year,” said Ferreira.
Francis revealed he thought about retiring
Ngannou is focused on his comeback and recently shared that fighting has taken on a new purpose for him, especially after the heartbreaking death of his youngest son. Ngannou revealed that he did question himself whether he should continue or retire. “But I didn’t want my son to be the reason for me to do that,” said Ngannou. He is using this tragedy as motivation and has decided to make his 15 months of living a positive one.
Ferreira clarified about his harsh tone
Ngannou will step into the PFL cage for the first time against Renan Ferreira on October 19 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Ferreira won the 2023 PFL Heavyweight championship. He is quite excited to welcome Francis back to MMA. However, he was quick to clarify the perceived harsh tone of his previous comments about Ngannou. While speaking to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, Ferreira stated that he respects Ngannou for his recent difficulties. “I respect Francis greatly and his family. I meant in the cage.” He further cleared everyone up about his words on X and wrote, “When I said I was going to be his biggest challenge this year, I was talking about Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, not his family. I’m a father myself.”
