The second-best opening pairs of ODI World Cup history are of none other than legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar & his opening batter Virender Sehwag. The duo who are often referred to as Jay-viru of the Indian Cricket team are owners of some remarkable stands in World Cup History. The duo have stitched a record-breaking 925 runs stand in 17 matches while opening the innings for India in the ICC World Cup 2003 and 2011.
The duo have complimented each other on several occasions registering two hundred-plus stands in the World Cups. Their standout partnership came against Sri lanka in the World Cup 2003 in South Africa where both of them put up a 153-run stand with Tendulkar scoring 97 & Sehwag scoring 66 runs.
Another remarkable stand came against Proteas in the World Cup 2011 where Sehwag did his job by returning with 73 runs while Tendulkar complimented by scoring 11 runs. The duo together stitched a marvelous 142-run stand for the first wicket which was no less than exceptional. Notably, they were able to stitch 100-plus stands just twice, and they were successful in giving good starts by scoring 6 fifty-plus stands or more runs.
