The 32-year-old all-rounder faced limitations during this year’s Ashes, refraining from bowling extensively due to a persistent knee problem. In the World Cup, he was primarily utilized as a batter, emphasizing his commitment to returning as a well-rounded all-rounder.
Stokes, recognizing the importance of managing his workload and fitness, made a significant decision last week by opting out of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) where he was the Chennai Super Kings’ priciest acquisition for the 2023 season.
Injuries limited his appearances in the previous IPL season to just two matches, prompting him to prioritize his recovery over participating in the lucrative tournament. Because of his injury, he didn’t bowl a single over at Cricket World Cup 2023.
Ben Stokes Will Lead England in Test Series Against India

To share the news of his successful operation, Stokes took on Instagram to write:
“In and out. Under the done. Rehab starts now.”
The cricketer’s dedication to rehabilitation and prioritizing his fitness is evident in his decision to forego the IPL and focus on returning as a key asset for England. The test tour of India isn’t far away and Stokes want to be fully fit before the crucial series.
As the team gears up for challenging tours and title defenses, Stokes’ journey to regain full fitness will undoubtedly be closely monitored by England cricket management. The knee injury has troubled him for a long time and during the New Zealand series, it got really worse
Unfortunately, Stokes won’t be taking part in IPL and he has rightly released by Chennai Super Kings. However, fans will hope that the talented all-rounder will return stronger and contribute significantly to England’s cricketing endeavors in the near future.
