Former WWE women’s champion Becky Lynch is no longer a superstar in the company as her contract expired on May 30. It seems that Lynch wants to take a long break from wrestling, as there is no indication of when she will sign a new WWE contract. Lynch’s recent update suggests that she is not even thinking about a WWE comeback just yet, telling fans that she is getting involved in a very different sport during her break.
Lynch has taken a new sport during her break
“The Man” posted a photo of herself wearing tennis gear, but her caption suggested that it is not tennis that she has been playing in her time off. Lynch has been playing pickleball, which is not too far away from tennis. She compared her lateral move from pro wrestling to pickleball to the Basketball legend Michael Jordan, who shifted his career towards baseball after achieving numerous accolades in basketball.
“Michael Jordan played baseball. The Man plays pickleball,” wrote Lynch in the caption.
Pickleball’s popularity has been on the rise recently
Although pickleball has had a recent rise in popularity, it was invented back in 1965. It seems like everyone in America is playing it now, so much that it was declared the official state sport of Washington in 2022. Given how much attention it’s been getting over the past few years, it makes sense that it would have caught Lynch’s attention as well. It is great to do something new for her while she is on break from pro wrestling.
Pickleball is still a new sport for some people when it comes to playing it. It is actually like table tennis that has been scaled up to the size of a small tennis court. Another thing that makes it different from tennis is that the rackets are flat paddles and fuzzy yellow balls are used for playing instead of a plastic ball.

Initially, Becky Lynch was supposed to take her break right after WrestleMania. However, after Rhea Ripley got injured and vacated the women’s world title, “The Man” was brought back to bridge the gap and eventually Liv Morgan became the champion. For now, there is no clarity on how long Becky plans to stay on break. However, whenever she decides to return, the former champion will definitely get a huge and exciting reaction from the crowd.
