Bayern Munich vs Augsburg: Preview
Bayern Munich form analysis
In their 1st game this season, Bayern were dominant especially in the first half, taking an early lead through Sane’s composed finish. Kane and Musiala threatened constantly and linked up well in attack. Davies provided great width down the left flank. Bayern’s midfielders Kimmich and Goretzka controlled the game. Defensively they were rarely troubled, with Upamecano and Kim imposing. Kane added a second after the break before Sane wrapped up the points late on. It was a confident performance from Bayern who outclassed their opponents.
Last season, Bayern Munich defeated Werder Bremen 2-1 with goals from Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane. They then beat Schalke 6-0 with goals from Thomas Muller, Joshua Kimmich, Serge Gnabry who scored two, Mathys Tel and Noussair Mazraoui. RB Leipzig defeated Bayern 3-1 despite an early goal from Serge Gnabry with goals from Konrad Laimer, Christopher Nkunku from the penalty spot and Dominik Szoboszlai also from the penalty spot. Bayern’s final game saw them defeat FC Cologne 2-1 with goals from Kingsley Coman and Jamal Musiala to secure the victory.
Augsburg form analysis
Augsburg started their campaign brightly and threatened early through Berisha and Vargas. They fell behind to a Gladbach header before Elvis equalized with a fine strike. Michel’s penalty on the stroke of halftime put Augsburg ahead. After the break, the game opened up with chances at both ends. Vargas looked lively and added Augsburg’s fourth but Gladbach dramatically equalized late on from the spot. Overall an entertaining game that Augsburg will be disappointed not to win after leading twice.
In their final match of the season against Union Berlin, Augsburg won 1-0 with a goal by D. Beljo in the 53rd minute. Against Bochum, Augsburg won 3-2 with goals by Antwi-Adjei, Maier, and Yeboah while conceding an own goal and a goal to Losilla. Then, Augsburg lost 0-3 to Borussia Dortmund with two goals by S. Haller and one by J. Brandt. In their next match, Augsburg lost 2-0 to Borussia M’gladbach with goals by Netz and Hofmann.
