#5. Sanath Jayasuriya
At number two is another legendary batter, Sanath Jayasuriya. The southpaw got out on 99 twice in one-day internationals. The final of the Coca-Cola Cup between India and Sri Lanka in Colombo saw Sanath Jayasuriya getting out on 99 for the first time in his one-day international career.
He scored 99 off just 102 balls but, unfortunately, couldn’t complete his century. In 2003, against England in Adelaide, Jayasuriya got out on 99 for the second time in his one-day international career. The southpaw scored 13,430 runs in 445 matches he played in the One Day International (ODI) career, with his career-best score being 189 runs against India in Sharjah in 2000.
