There are currently less than two weeks until the start of the eagerly awaited Asia Cup 2023. One player’s unique training method has gained attention as teams get ready for the competition. Mohammad Naim Sheikh, the first batter for Bangladesh, has chosen a different path—literally—walking on fire as part of his ‘mind-training regimen’ in advance of the competition. This time around, the Asia Cup 2023 is expected to play out differently. The hybrid model was put into place as a result of India’s decision not to visit Pakistan due to political considerations. On August 30, Pakistan and Nepal will face off in Multan, Pakistan, to begin the competition.
When India and Pakistan square off in Kandy, Sri Lanka, on September 2, it will be a date keenly etched on the cricket calendar. On September 4 at the same location, India will play Nepal in another favourable matchup.
There will be two groups in this year’s Asia Cup. In the Super Four stage, where the top two teams from each group advance to, each club will face its rivals once more. The two top teams will secure their spots in the final, which is set for September 17 in Colombo, at this point.
Pakistan will host a number of group-stage contests and one Super Four contest. In Sri Lanka, the remaining contests will be contested. The cricketing world is attracted as the tournament approaches not only by the possibility of riveting matches but also by the unusual yet compelling training techniques used by players like Mohammad Naim Sheikh. Fans will be excited to witness the Asian stars represent their nations with some outstanding cricketing performances.
