Wrestling superstar Batista fought his last match in WWE against Triple H at WrestleMania 35 in 2019. While WWE fans thought they would see more of Batista in the coming years, in his mind, that was Batista’s last match of his wrestling career. However, he did not tell anyone about this because he probably didn’t want long farewell speeches and a retirement tour. “The Animal” wanted to move on on his own terms.
Batista about the retirement match
Batista recently appeared on Chris Van Vliet’s YouTube channel to promote his upcoming film, “The Killer’s Game,” but the conversation soon turned to wrestling, from where his career began. The four-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion ended up talking about his retirement from wrestling. In fact, it was started by his co-star Sofia Boutella, who was there with him. She asked Batista if he knew that it was his last match. In response, he said, “Yes I did. I just didn’t tell anybody else. I didn’t want it to be a big deal, you know, go out, do the tour, and give the speech. I wanted to have my match, call it quits and go out on my terms.”
Batista stated that very few wrestlers get to choose how they will retire and he was lucky to be one of them. However, the former WWE champion did admit that he misses wrestling, the crowd and their energy. “I dream about walking out and hearing my entrance music, but I know if I do that, I’ll just tarnish my storybook ending and I am just not willing to do it,” said The Animal.
He was close to being inducted into WWE Hall of Fame
The wrestler turned actor also talked about being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, which has been on the cards for some time but is yet to happen. Batista said that eventually he will be inducted, but it couldn’t happen for some reason. The Animal revealed that he was close to making a deal during WrestleMania in Los Angeles some time ago, but at that time, he was shooting for a film in South Africa. However, he is still open to it and would like to do it someday.

Earlier, Batista spoke about his return to WWE and said that even though retirements in wrestling are just a myth, he has no interest in returning back to the ring. Batista fought his last WWE match against The Game at WrestleMania. The two clashed in a No-Holds-Barred match, putting their careers at stake. Triple H won the match and Batista eventually announced his retirement from WWE after the defeat. This year’s WrestleMania was full of surprises with WWE veteran The Rock making his in-ring return and John Cena announcing his retirement tour. The People’s Champion is rumored to return next year, so there’s a possibility that fans get to see a clash between him and his former rival John Cena.
