Wrestler turned actor Batista is set to return to the big screen this weekend with his new film, The Killer’s Game. Batista is playing the character of a retired hitman in the movie who must escape his peers only to be struck down himself when he is given a deadly diagnosis that turns out to be inaccurate. The interesting thing is that Batista is not the only actor in The Killer Game that WWE fans will recognize, as the film will also mark the debut of Drew McIntyre.
How did McIntyre get the role in the film ?
Batista played a part in McIntyre getting his first movie role. The wrestler turned actor spoke to Chris Van Vliet about his latest role and revealed how he got Drew McIntyre the part in the film. The MCU star stated that he was talking to director JJ Perry when he said, “I need a great big guy who is almost intimidating to you, a guy who’d be bigger than you.” The director further stated that he wants the actor to be able to talk in a Scottish accent. That’s when Batista thought of Drew, who was a perfect match for this role.
Batista added that he showed Perry the pictures and urged him not to continue the search because he would never find anyone better suited for the role than him. Someone who is bigger than Batista, has a Scottish accent and can act, there was definitely no one better than the Scottish Warrior himself.
Wrestlers appearing in films will benefit WWE
All that had to happen after McIntyre approached him was for WWE and Triple H to allow it to happen, to which Batista said that it’s no longer a problem because The Game is in charge. Batista admitted that when he left WWE, he left so he could pursue other avenues because when he was a WWE Superstar, he wasn’t allowed to. The idea was to keep everything limited, while Triple H understands that if WWE-contracted wrestlers are appearing in Hollywood blockbusters, they are bringing new fans with them when they get back in the ring.

Drew McIntyre will appear in a movie for the first time this Friday when The Killer Game hits theaters. Hopefully he will make a good impact and have a good start to his acting career. While Batista started his acting career with a major role in Guardians of the Galaxy, most wrestlers who make it to Hollywood start out with small roles that lead to them gaining recognition.
