BAN-W vs AUS-W: Australia’s women’s team fast bowler, Darcie Brown won’t be travelling with the squad for the upcoming Bangladesh tour as she has suffered a foot stress injury. The Australian Cricket Team is scheduled to travel to Bangladesh to play three ODIs and as many T20 internationals, starting 21st March.
Darcie Brown, who was earlier part of the squad, will now stay in Australia for recovery. It comes as a big blow to the side, who, recently, welcomed Tayla Vlaeminck after a long hiatus due to injury. The latter had been out of action for a long period due to serious navicular stress injuries.
A detailed scan revealed that Darcie Brown suffered from a stress injury to the navicular bone in her left foot. How long will she take to recover fully is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, Grace Harris has been announced as Brown’s replacement in the ODI squad. She was already part of the T20I squad and now has been added to ODIs as well.
Furthermore, All-rounder Heather Graham also has been sidelined due to a medical issue. In the absence of these players, the responsibility falls on Tayla Vlaeminck’s shoulder, who hasn’t played any international fixture since January 2022.
Much to the relief, Tayla has recovered from her shoulder surgery and will once again don the Yellow jersey. The 25-year-old picked up the injury on Australia A’s tour of the United Kingdom in June 2023.
Australian players, who are part of the tour and aren’t playing aren’t playing the Women’s T20 League, will travel to Bangladesh on Saturday.
