Babar Azam & Shaheen Afridi’s Ugly Spat in Dressing Room after Asia Cup 2023 loss
After Pakistan got knocked out of Asia Cup 2023 after losing their last Super 4 fixture against Sri Lanka, there were reports of Babar Azam & Shaheen Afridi indulging in an argument in the dressing room. It all started with Babar Azam asking players to play responsibly which didn’t go well with Shaheen. He asked Babar to appreciate those who batted & bowled well. This interruption in the team’s pep-talk was not liked by Captain Azam who said that he knew who was doing well & who was not.
After seeing that the argument was taking a heated turn, wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan intervened to calm things down. Shahid Afridi, who is the father-in-law of Shaheen, has advised Babar to seek the help of the team director and coach to improve his captaincy.
After the incident, Shahid Afridi who is the father-in-law of Shaheen Afridi advised Babar to take the help of the team director and coach to improve his captaincy. “We are going to the World Cup. All the seniors, including head coach, Mickey, have to talk to him [Babar Azam]. Make him strong. Don’t fear making tough decisions. Don’t worry about losses. Either you win, or you learn,” Shahid told Samaa TV.
At Shaheen’s wedding, Shahid was seen hugging Babar Azam when he entered the venue & it was a long hug where Shahid was seen saying a few words to the current team skipper.
Now with all the rifts & differences between Babar Azam & Shaheen Afridi, we can hope things get better in Pakistan’s camp. Currently, Pakistan is gearing up for the ODI World Cup 2023 to be held in India from October 3, 2023.
