AUS vs ENG 4th ODI: After losing the first two ODIs of the five-match series, England fought back with a 46-run win over Australia in the third game on Tuesday at the Riverside Ground at Chester le-Street. Skipper Harry Brook led from the front with a sensational ton. As a result, England are now trailing 2-1 in the series with two matches yet to be played.
The fourth ODI is scheduled to take place at Lord’s Cricket Ground on 27th September 2024. Australia won the first two ODIs convincingly but their English batters put in a solid performance in the third game. It will be interesting if the visitors can fight back and seal the series on Friday.
England team Review
Yet again, the England openers couldn’t give their team a decent start. Mitchell Starc sends both the openers back early in the innings. Phil Salt has had a forgettable series so far with the bat, registering scores of 17, 12 and 0. Ben Duckett, though, has played a solid knock and could be someone to bet on.
Will Jacks produced an outstanding knock of 84 off 82 balls in the game. He stitched a match-winning partnership with Harry Brook, who produced his first ton of the tournament.
Both will be the players to watch out for. Also, Liam Livingstone’s counter-attacking knock of 33 off 20 balls played a crucial role in the team’s win. He has made great returns in the T20I series as well.
It will be interesting to see if he gets promoted in the next game. Jacob Bethell didn’t bat in the last game but certainly has a lot of potential. Besides, he can pick a wicket or two with the ball.
With the ball, Jofra Archer made a comeback into the bowling line-up and picked two wickets. He has three wickets in two games in the series. Adil Rashid went wicketless in the last game but he could produce goods at Lord’s.
Australia Team Review
Australia would be disappointed to not have won the last game. Despite the early wickets, they managed to reach the 300-run mark. Once again, when the team was in trouble, Alex Carey stood up. He now has two half-centuries in three games.
Travis Head missed out in the last game but is likely to make his return at Lord’s, while Mitchell Marsh would go back to the number three spot. Steve Smith’s 60-run knock is a big positive for the team. He should be a player to watch out for heading into the last two games of the series.
We would also advise you to pick Glenn Maxwell in your fantasy team. He looked dangerous during a 30-run knock of 25 balls before getting outdone by a delivery that should have received harsh treatment.
As for their bowling, look no further than Mitchell Starc. He is a must-have pick. Australia missed Adam Zampa in the last game. He should make a return to the XI and to your fantasy team as well.
