There comes a major update from the Australian Team! Australian selectors made massive changes to the T20I squad as send six players of Australia’s t20I squad who are currently playing in the five match T20I series back to Australia. Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Josh Inglis, Sean Abbott and Adam Zampa – all part of the World Cup squad – are on their way back home to Australia. They will not feature in the crucial IND vs AUS 3rd T20I.
Why did the selectors send the Australian Players back to home?
The decision of sending six Australian players back to home has nothing to do with their loss in the first two t20Is. The selectors have taken this decision to give the World Cup Players some rest as they have been playing continuous cricket for the past five months. The move is completely taken to manage players workload & not because of their recent losses to India.
Two replacement players Josh Phillippe and Ben McDermott have already reached India & joined the Australian t20I clan. On the other hand, NSW pair Ben Dwarshuis and spinner Chris Green will join the Australian team in Raipur ahead of the fourth t20I.
Chris Green is all set to make a mark on his International debut

Chris Green will be the player to watch out in the Aussies clan. He is all set to make his International debut during the fourth t20I or in the fifth t20I in Bengaluru. He is currently appointed as the full time captain for the Sydney Thunder after previously enjoying the interim role in BBL 12. During his capacity as interim captain in BBL 12 he has displayed his exemplary qualities & proved his prowess in t20 format.
Travis Head will feature in the IND vs AUS 3rd T20I
After the altercations, Travis head stands as the lone player from Australia’s World Cup Squad which is in India. Along with Head, Tanveer sangha who has traveled with the Australian team as reserve will remain with the squad. Head’s heroics in the final of the ODI World Cup 2023 has helped Aussies to win their sixth title of World cup. Head who is yet to play a match in the ongoing T20I series might play in today’s T20I.
Meanwhile Commenting about Steven Smith’s form, Australia’s head coach Andre borovec said that they are impressed with Smith’s performance in the shorter formats. “Part of our series strategy was to experiment with Steve (Smith) at the top, and we’ve successfully had that opportunity,” stated Borovec following the second match. Australia is all set to play 10 T20is leading to the t20 World Cup 2024 in the USA & Caribbean.
